Trip Report: Gidget and I headed out from the house around 4:00 Friday afternoon and made the 2-hour drive to the Holiday Inn Express in Richfield, Ohio just outside of Cuyahoga Valley National Park. We checked in, unpacked, and headed back out to Whitey’s Booze N’ Burgers, a local restaurant we passed on our way in. Ordered a couple IPAs, a black and bleu burger, and a Whitey’s steak sandwich. Turned out to be the best black and bleu burger we’ve ever had, and the steak sandwich was pretty damn good too. Boxed up our leftovers, finished off a second IPA and then headed back to the hotel to call it a night.

The following morning we took our time getting ready before heading out for a bike ride on the Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trail. We parked the Jeep at the Boston Store Visitor Center and rode the bikes north 10.7 miles to Rockside Station where we had some lunch before hopping on the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad (CVSR) using the Bike Aboard! feature. From there, we rode the train south through the park to Botzum Station. At Botzum Station, we disembarked and rode the bikes back north 9.1 miles to Boston Mill Station, stopping along the way in Peninsula for a quick beer at the Winking Lizard.

After the bike ride, we headed back to the hotel, took some quick showers and headed back to Rockside Station to board the CVSR again for the Ales on Rails beer tasting excursion. Partook in a selection of five different Oktoberfest style beers and a variety of hors d'oeuvres all while cruising for two hours through the park on the train. After a fun ride with plenty of good beer, we headed back to the hotel again to call it a night.

Took our time getting ready again the following morning before heading out to complete this hike, a hike along the Brandywine Gorge Trail and another hike to Blue Hen Falls. After wrapping up the hike at the Ledges Trail, we headed back to the Winking Lizard, where we sat out on the patio and had a beer with our lunch. All in all, a good weekend.
