Trip Report: Took the kid and the dog to Sandy Springs for a 1.2 mile hike behind the North Fulton County Service Center this afternoon since the weather was so unseasonably warm. The trails are incredibly well maintained, and the park is surprisingly peaceful for being sandwiched between two apartment complexes and Roswell Rd. There is a stream that runs in a valley between two high ridges and I really enjoyed the hike. We ran into about four other groups of hikers, and all had dogs with them. So this area is apparently popular with the pet crowd - although the leash laws are strictly enforced. Finished the hike around 4pm after circling the park via the Backcountry Trail. It's a fairly easy route, with only one small climb as you approach the back section (or eastern side) of the forest.
