Trip Report: Matt was up and having breakfast by the fire pit when I crawled from the tent this morning. He was talking to a guy from south Georgia who was about to finish a 70 mile southbound hike on the A.T. Joined Matt for some hot chocolate, then packed up my gear and hit the trail by 10:30am. There were a number of people at Springer Mountain as I hiked southbound, most of whom must have stayed around Black Mountain last night. It took me about an hour to reach Nimblewill Gap, and Rebel was having a tough time on the hike. I took his pack on two occassions, but we reached the trailhead without incident and got him some water from a spring just south of the shelter (where I talked briefly with two Tech students). The drive home went smoothly, and I made a trip through the Burger King in Dawsonville for lunch. Drove to the house by 1:30pm and spent the rest of the afternoon unpacking gear.
