Trip Report: 6/18/93 - Snyder was home this morning and I packed and did some lab reports before catching a 2:30pm flight to LAX with USAir. We made a brief stop in Indianapolis and I scored a first class ride this afternoon. Had some brews on the flight, then landed in LA by 6:15pm. Mo’s flight was delayed from 8:30pm to 10:50pm on Delta. Once she landed, we drove to Ventura and stayed at the Radisson for the night. It was a nice room with a kitchen and we got a great deal - $47/night. I also had a free rental coupon from Avis, so this weekend has panned out so far. It was a 1-1 ½ hour drive to Ventura this evening. Weather: Hot in IL to 80’s. Cooler in CA to 70’s.

6/19/93 - Mo and I were up at 7am today for the 9am departure to Anacapa Island. There were numerous day hikers on the boat, but only 8-9 people stayed overnight on the island. We did some day hiking once we arrived and checked out the numerous new born sea gulls on the island. A park ranger showed a video in the museum tonight, then we hiked back to the campsite around 10pm. It got much colder and windier this evening – especially after sunset. Both Mo and I were pretty tired and sacked out right after the video. You could hear the sea lions all night long and about 100’ below us in some sandy coves. Weather: Partly sunny, with scattered clouds and temps ranging from 50-80. Windy after sunset.

6/20/03 – We slept in until 10am this morning, then took a short hike on the nature trail and checked out the views. The boat left for the mainland at 2:30pm and we were back by five. I checked into the Best Western for a meeting in Camarillo tomorrow, then we cleaned up and headed out for Mexican food before Mo caught a 10:50pm flight back to Chicago. My co-worker Bill was at the motel by the time I got back from LAX. Weather: Mostly overcast, cool and windy. Temps to 80’s H.
