Trip Report: Sunday (8/21/05) – The Camel, Waterdog and I were out of the tents by 8:15am this morning and we spent an hour packing gear and eating breakfast before our 9:45am shuttle back to the Vermillion Valley Ranch. The boat was full for the trip across Edison Lake, and hikers started showing up more than an hour before the scheduled departure from the dock. There were a number of Forest Service personnel on the pontoon boat, however, and they gave us some excellent ideas for future backcountry trips in the High Sierra. Back at the resort, The Camel and I checked out some T-Shirts but ended up with only a few snacks and sodas since the inventory was fairly depleated. We hit the road for San Francisco by 11am and drove six hours to the airport Westin where they gave us the same room we were in last Wednesday night. After enjoying a few brews and our first shower in three days, we headed out to a nearby steak place for dinner. Kincades was pricey but very good and it's worth a visit if you are ever in the area. By 9:30pm, we were wiped out and opted for the movie Friday Night Lights over a night on the town in San Francisco.
