Hike Summary: | The main trail is an undulating basic forest hike to the base of the mountain itself. Do not be lured to sleep by this. Its about a 2.5 mile forest hike to the base, but things get cardio-intensive from there on out. Its a steep and constant incline for the remaining 1.3 miles or so. The last 1/4 mile is especially trying, especially in the winter (as I have just learned the hard way). The summit is forest covered so the best views are found by climbing the fire tower. There are various flat areas or open tree lines where good views can be seen on the way up. Also, the first 1/2 mile or so of trail gives good views of other peaks/ spurs and rock faces. |
