Hike Summary: | This is a real nice hike. The trailhead is right off Rt 17, it does get crowded because of the number of trails that branch off the various trails. We headed towards the Lemon Squeezer and the trail starts gradually climbing then climbs about 500 feet. Very doable though. The trail we followed was the AT, which is plainly marked, and takes you right to the Squeezer a cool rock formation. Once through the squeeze you have to scale a rock face to continue, or take the blue trail to the left. Know your limitations. At the top of the squeezer is a nice wide open spot for a lunch break. We continued on and about a half mile past the lunch spot is a huge intersection with trail signs leading in all direxctions, a trail clover leaf. We took a right on the green trail to the red trail and worked our way back to the trail head. The hike has some nice views of the Island Pond, the trail is in good shape. |
