Hike Summary: | Spent 3 days 2 nights with a hiking buddy on the point for spring break. We left Sugar Hill Campground and hiked the 2.5mi out to the point. The trail is sugar sand all the way so wear proper footwear. Once at Gap Point we set up camp to a stiff 15-20mph west wind and essentially called it a day cooked dinner and went to bed. Day 2 we woke up to calmer winds 10-15mph but by late afternoon/early evening it laid down to a steady 5mph breeze. With clear skies and not a cloud in site that evening we could see every star. Woke up on day 3 and made the 2.5mi hike out to grab showers and get back on the road. |
