Hike Summary: The mining towns of Superior, Miami, and Globe in the Tonto National Forest are great places to hike. These towns are stuck in time and have a long and unique history, boasting architecture and structures from the time they were founded. Much like any American "ghost town", each Main Street has many vacancies yet still maintains the original charm.

The best part about Superior, Miami, and Globe are the endless trails and vistas to explore. These communities sit at a higher elevation than the city of Phoenix, the closest metropolitan to the three towns. Here you can hike year-round, but be prepared for snowy weather during the winter months. Otherwise, it's a great place to get outside and still escape the Arizona summer heat.

Tonto National Forest has great rock climbing, offroading, and tons of water features to explore. Please keep in mind that most activities in Superior, Miami, and Globe require the right equipment, so plan accordingly. Consider these gear recommendations to be better prepared:

Hiking Gear: i.e. boots and tall socks
Water and energy bars, picnic lunch
A vehicle with offroading capability
AND/OR a vehicle with towing capability
Climbing gear
Change of clothes/swimwear
