My dogs are the reason I got into hiking. In fact, they make great companions on the trail. They never complain! The’re just happy to be out and about. So I say bring em. Just be respectful of others on the trail, responsible and leash them up, and most importanly, clean up after them. Happy hiking

Completely agree with the both of you. Cell phones are for emergency only when I’m on a trial. Thankfully I have not come upon anyone gabbing on thier celly when I’ve been hiking.

I always wondered about the hammocks. I know there are really light, but wasn’t sure if they kept you as warm. Curious to know.

I second the MUVO suggestion. They are relatively inexpensive now and are very small. Just like past post, takes 1 AAA battery. I love mine. Had it before the IPOD boom and have never had any problems. My husband has one that has AM/FM capability in addition to the MP3. Its about the size of a 20 piece pack of stick gum, like Doublemint gum.
