    Guest, You make a great argument for go light! I prefer not to obsess with weight in the backcountr. Just keep it 25% of your body weight and take what keeps you happy. Driver

    a must-have on any out door jaunt, regardless of length of hike, is a whistle. After a couple of hours of screaming when you get lost, you will lose your voice. Remember, NEVER cry wolf!!

    stagefright, I hang from a Hennessey. Quality,room,price…It’s all there. the Expidition Asym is my prefered bag. I am 225,6’3″ and it is just enought to treat me well. It comes in at around $120 – $140 bucks and well worth it. Any bigger than me and you would need the Delux Asym. It’s about $180
    I do a lot of hiking in North Georgia with the scouts and it fits just right. Most of the terrain goes straight up from the river so a hammock is nessary. driver
