    North Carolina has it all – mountains, beaches, rolling hills, a great section of the Appalachian Trail and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

    Your question is an oxymoron. The words “good backpacking” and “southeast” cannot be used together.

    Ouch, hating on the South East, must be a Big 10 fan.

    Hiking in the SE. it certainly is no where even close to the vicinity of Savannah, Ga. If it were not for the alligators I’d seriously have to give up hiking except for my Christmas visit back home to Tn/NC. C’mon December get here already.
