Hike Summary: | A steep but manageable hike up Cascade becomes a rock scramble for the last few hundred vertical feet. Be cautious of high winds at the summit. A backtrack down the trail brings you to a fork where you can access the Porter trail. Heavy snows and widely spaced trail markers made it easy to lose the trail on several occasions and the view was not as exquisite as Cascade's. If you are doing this hike and are tired after summiting Cascade, skip the Porter traverse. Great rock scrambling above the tree line on Cascade with an alpinic type summit. |
