    Bear Grylls or Les Stroud?

Controversy aside, Bear’s new editing and more “transparent” 2nd Season is winning me over. Les’ 2nd Season to me, was a bit boring honestly. The only ones I really enjoyed was the South Pacific and Alaska episodes. The behind the scenes show was also pretty good.

I’m beginning to see the end of the line for both of these shows. Although the world’s a big place, there has to be a limit to them. I’ve been hoping for a Patagonia show from one of them and I’d love to see an Antarctica show as well. Bear’s doing a Patagonia show this season it appears.

Dude, I love those shows. I’d have a beer with either one of them, but I have to say that Bear has the edge. I agree with you on that.

I kinda like them too and DVR as I record them and watch all the episodes all the time, plus Everest: Beyond the Limit

Give it up for Bear. If were lost in the woods or I’d hit the street for Mardi Gras, it’d be with him.

Bear’s the man! Anyone that does a sumersault from an airplane into the middle of the Amazon jungle gets high marks in my mind.

The Patagonia episode tonight was good. I’ve been dying to see either Bear or Les in this location. Next week, the Andes..oh yeah!

I’m sticking up for a fellow Canuk – aka Survivorman. He travels solo and films his own stuff. Can Bear say that? And he does a pretty damn good job for being an amateur camera man. Besides, you have to always wonder if one of those camera guys isn’t passing Bear a Snickers.

Right you are, I mean, it’s not like Bear’s been caught, misleading the viewers before..wait a sec. I was really disappointed by Les’ second season of Survivor man. The Labrador episode with the dog sled team was pretty boring. The Cooke Island’s episode was great however. The 2nd season just didn’t have enough shows to compete with Bear in series to series matchups. In the end, I like Les better, but he gets blown out of the water in a series to series match this go around. I’m hoping these guys have at least one more season in them.

BTW, Everest: Beyond the Limit rocked this season!!!

After watching all the Man Versus Wild re-edited episodes, I like them a ton more with the transparency. Now if they’d just show the Patagonia episodes a bit more rather than the stincking desert ones.

They need to drop both of them in the same area and see who makes it out first. I guess Survivorman will have to loose his camera equipment though.

That would be an interesting matchup but my money would be on Bear as he’d simply run his way out due to his superior athletic ability and his fitness. Just as long as it’s not another desert episode, ugh.

I completely agree with this statement. All of my friends like Bear better because he’s more fun to watch, but I have to say I have learned a lot more from Les.

The way I see it, Les is more “practical,” but Bear is definately more entertaining. I think that if I found myself in a survival situation, I’d probably try to handle it more like Survivorman. In other words, I’d try to stay put, focusing on shelter, finding food and cooking it before I ate it, instead of trying to trek cross-country and eating live animals like Bear. That being said, I think that Man vs. Wild is the more entertaining and dramatic of the two shows. One thing I have noticed is that when Les Stroud eats something he’s found in the wilderness, he tastes it and makes these faces and noises that make it seem like he’s eating a gourmet meal. Bear Ghrylles, on the other hand, leaves no doubt that survival food is usually disgusting by making terrible faces and starts gagging and choking.
