And please don’t be offended if you see me pull a knife out when passing by your lovable and loyal (to you at least) snarling, trying to eat my kid, pit bull. I love dogs on the trail, but some need to stay away from people who didn’t come to the trail to see Kujo.

My dog has as much right to be on the trail as anyone else. I wouldn’t even consider hiking without my dog.

As long as I don’t step on a steaming pile in the middle of the trail, I can live with it.

The only hiking companions I have are my two dogs. We usually stick to slower, less used trails, and try hikes during the weeks as often as we can to avoid the masses. Don’t worry, they are both self concious and usually do their business far from sight. The do get a little edgy in the woods at night, and have barked at the night hickers, but once they realize its just people, the tails are wagging again.

There is no place where my dog is happier than on the trail. I see no reason they shouldn’t be able to enjoy the wilderness as much as I do.

Bring ’em. Keep the crap off the trail and make sure they are good with new people.

It’s cute. Especially the little chihuahua that tries to act all tough.

I hate it when people make a big deal about dogs on the trail. I pick up their shit because I don’t want it on the trail either, but I had someone give me the stink eye from a horse! If there’s an animal who should be barred from the trail it’s horses. I am partly joking, but really they cause a lot of trail damage and shit everywhere. Why don’t they have to pick up the horse shit? Is it just too much shit? Does that mean if my dog shit more I wouldn’t have to pick it up? Also, I don’t leave the city and all the stupid people there to go to the wilderness and have my dogs on a leash, they aren’t bothering anyone.

I plan my trip around places that will allow dogs— No dogs no trip– well local only. I’m not crazy enough to put my dog on a plane!

Dogs don’t leave trash on the trail. They are 50x cleaner than humans. What’s the issue here?

Hiked with a dog today and I’m completely sold on it keeping the youngsters “into” the hike, however, stepped in a big pile along the trail and it wasn’t from the dog we were with. Clean it up, will ya?
