Hike Summary: Hiked in October, 2005. This hike can be done either clockwise going up the Beachcroft Trail and coming down the Bear Brook Trail or counter clockwise, up Bear Brook and down Beachcroft. Bear Brook is slightly less steep than Beachcroft so take it up if you like easier climbing and steep descents. We went up Beachcroft and it is very steep, you gain 1,000 ft. in elevation in about a mile. Once on top the view is 360 degrees with Cadillac Mt to the west, Bar Harbor and Frenchman’s Bay to the north and east and Gorham Mt. and the Beehive to the south. If you go up the Beachcroft trail, you join the Bear Brook trail on the summit. To the right will take you to the Beehive and the Gorham Mt. Trail. To the left will take you down to the Bear Brook trail head on Park Loop Rd. From here, turn left on the Park loop road for less than a half mile to highway 3. Left on highway 3 for 100 yards to the parking area.
