Trip Report: We woke to rain this morning at the motel, and the cab was early for our ride to Stratton Mountain. By 9:30am, we were at the base of the mountain and we bought our gondola ticket for the ride to the summit where the Appalachian Trail is easily accessed. The rain let up by mid-morning but it was a misty ride to the top with heavy winds on the mountain (but it was kind of cool in a way). We hiked in the clouds for 12+ miles this afternoon and reached the Kid Gore Shelters by 5:30PM. The climb up the Stratton Mountain Firetower was pretty cool, but we moved on quickly since there were limited views. At the shelter this evening, there were no flat tent sites so we ended up staying in the bunk beds and had the place to ourselves tonight. Sacked out at 10PM.
