Trip Report: After arriving at the Salt Lake City airport around 4pm, we picked up a Jeep SUV and decided to make a loop through Park City for dinner and drinks. As we closed in on the ski town, it appeared we had enough time and daylight for a short hike. Glatzer (aka Cardiac) expressed interest in joining Tony (aka Hoody) and I for a hike at Deer Valley. We were tipped off on the trails at the ski resort by a desk clerk at the outlet stores where Glatzer scored a hiking shirt, pants, and trail shoes for the hike. Well, sort of - the shoes gave him blisters but they were more trail worthy than his leather dress shoes.

By 6pm, we were standing at the main ski lodge at Deer Valley near the trailhead. There were numerous hiking and biking trails marked on an oversized map at the building, but we opted for a short 1+ mile loop that started at the top of the chairlift on the Nabob Trail. Some mountain bikers with dogs trailing them were active on the loop, but we had no incidents - although they didn't look particularly excited to see us there. Hiked up to a steep ridge that offered a view of the St. Regis hotel which is currently under construction in a saddle above the Silver Lake Village. Then looped back through a forest of maples that were at peak color - an unexpected bonus along the trail. Finished the hike around 6:30pm, and headed into Park City to sit on a second story deck and have some pizza and beer.
