Trip Report: The hike Stargazer describes is part of the Lake Marion Passage of the Palmetto Trail, and it is a great area to explore. This past January (2010), water levels were high in Lake Marion and Sparkleberry Swamp, making it difficult to walk, but I was able to see much of the area anyway. Sparkleberry is mysterious and exciting. I really like the area south of Sparkleberry Landing, on down to Packs Landing. I’ll definitely be going back this spring!
4 stars only due to the high water. During normal water levels this would warrant 5 stars.
