Trip Report: 4/17/98 (Friday) – I worked for three hours today at GT from 9am to 12 noon then headed home to pack and to book a cabin at Table Rock State Park for the night. The forecast is for some heavy showers this weekend and we decided to book a cabin and do some day hikes rather than get caught out in the storms. Table Rock State Park normally requires a three day minimum for the cabins, but they had a number of cancellations due to the weather and we were able to get one for Friday and Saturday night.

The Pixie came over around 4pm and we stopped at REI on the way out of town this evening. Greenville had a lot of rush hour traffic tonight so we stopped there to pick up groceries, and we didn’t make it to Table Rock until around 7:30pm. The Pixie and I cooked up some dinner and were later joined by The Joker and Tracey around 10pm. We ended up playing cards until around 2am tonight.

4/18/98 (Saturday) – We drove to Pickens this morning for a late breakfast/early lunch at Subway, then drove to Caesars Head State Park and got a map at the visitors center for the hike to Raven Cliff Falls. It was raining lightly at 1:30pm when we started, but quit after we were on the trail for a few minutes. The hike is fairly easy, and we did the 2.0 mile trip to a wooden viewing platform in about an hour. There is a nice view of the falls from the platform, and most of the day hikers we met were headed in this direction. We eventually made it back to the cars by 4pm, and headed back to Table Rock State Park to cook up some kabobs that we bought in Pickens. We were up until 2am once again tonight playing cards in the cabin.

4/19/98 (Sunday) – There were strong storms this morning in the Pickens area, and we left the cabin for town around 11am in a major downpour. After a late breakfast in Pickens, Pixie and I drove back to Atlanta and made it home by 3pm.
