Trip Report: | Hiked to Schoolhouse Falls and shared it with around 20 other people. It was hot and sunny and many were playing in the water. Took ½ the girls behind the waterfall for a photo, then we gathered the rest of the group and went to the sandy beach further down the valley. It had ~15 people hanging out on the sandbar but we were able to grab the far side of the beach where I threw a brand new orange duck training toy to Boone for about 20 minutes. He finally dug a pit and settled down – after flinging sand all over the girl’s stuff. Walked the short distance from the beach to a rock formation in the river and the girls followed. Couldn’t coax the Mrs. or the dog across, but it was a nice diversion and a way to get away from the masses on the sandbar. Checked out the campsite where I stayed with the Mahan’s in the past, then met the girls at the bridge on the main trail. The dog did surprisingly well hiking out of the valley but his stamina isn’t what it used to be at 9 ½ years old. |
