Trip Report: We hit the Black Balsam Trail head to hike to Cold Mountain. The parkinglot was almost empty. We initially had an issue finding the trail, there were a few blazes but no signs. Once we started out we missed the first entrance to AL and kept going up a fire road, boring, until we hit an intersection and grabbed the AL. The trail is called a wilderness trail and it truly is, no signs, nothing, we walked into a lot of camp sites trying to figure out which way the trail went. After rescuing a dog from Cold Mt we cut it short and hiked back out. Beautiful area.
