Trip Report: We found 5 feet of snow at the Wheeler Peak campground, but we came prepared with our snowshoes. The climb into the cirque was steady, and given the already high elevation, it required a lot of stops to catch our breath. We aimed for Teresa Lake in the cirque, east of Stella Lake and then climbed from there over the ridge towards Brown Lake to get into the bristlecone pine groves. The skies were cobalt blue and the snow was dazzling white. We saw nary a soul on this trip although there were several snowshoe tracks visible in the snow going up to Stella Lake.
