Trip Report: | Met Mama and Papa Obie and their two boys at Pictured Rocks Cruises Saturday morning and embarked on the two-hour Classic Cruise along Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. The views were great and we got several picturesque photos of the guided group kayak tours taking place along the base of the cliffs. After the cruise, we both drove to the Miner’s Castle parking lot and dropped off the Smitley minivan and hopped in the Obie family RAM. Gidget and I got dropped off at the Little Beaver Lake Campground and trailhead and we backpacked to the Chapel Beach backcountry campsite where we met back up with the Obie family. This section of the trail between Little Beaver Lake and Chapel Beach was absolutely, stunningly gorgeous, and the Chapel Beach backcountry campsite, which was right next to the beach, had lots to do and explore. We particularly liked the single rock outcropping with a single solitary tree and the small waterfall near the beach. Spent an awesome evening eating on the beach and even had some fresh squeezed margaritas to finish out the evening. Obie went for a swim and the boys played with the air-powered stomp rocket and Nerf Pocket Aero Flyer Football. |
