Trip Report: | Moose madness. That’s what I like to call my hike on the Feldtmann Ridge back in 1995. The area around Feldtmann Lake was so moose-active, I had to be careful. Twice I was charged by cows, and once by a very young bull. All false charges of course. Once they figured out I was not a threat, they backed down. I didn’t do the in-and-out hike here. This was the first leg of my 1995 circumnavigation expedition of the island. I can tell you though, this was one of the very special portions of that trip. Siskiwit Bay, the beach, and the wolf tracks are all things that will be etched in my head forever. I did the trip to Siskiwit Bay in 2 days pretty easily. Not much elevation gain or loss and there are boardwalks in just the right places. |
