| Trip Report: | This one was a short one, took wife and kids (14, 12, 10) on 2nd ever hike-in camp out. Less than 1.5 hours from ATL topside perimeter. In a nutshell, great outdoor experience that will keep the whole Fam looking forward to the next one! Chose ~3rd camp site as our base, creek side. Probably 30 min hike with packs. Site had enough room for 1-2 tents plus great tree options for enos. Creek was fairly clear and enjoyed a 45 minute creek hike through small rapids. Firewood was at a premium - had to search hard and most was really wet (this is a highly canopied, damp area), but made it work. Hiked another few miles up/back on second day.... didn’t get to the falls but the trek was interesting and enjoyable nonetheless. This one is on my list to return to, with a group motivated to hike through to the falls. |
