Trip Report: | Saturday 6/20/15 - Woke around 10am and had a great breakfast that Fuller cooked up in the kitchen. Mahan headed home, but Fuller and I followed him to the Angel Falls trailhead near Lake Burton and hiked two miles roundtrip passed two really cool waterfalls. The campground was busy at the base of the mountain and there were about 20 people on the Trail, but the hike wasn’t too intense and was really enjoyable. (Note – there were no backcountry campsites on this route). Returned to the Highlander, and escaped a heavy downpour by only a few minutes. Fuller and I made it back to the cabin by 1pm and started to clean up after checking in with his folks at the main house. Made it back to Atlanta by 3:40pm and arrived to find the family working on a “campfire cake” for Father’s Day. Got cleaned up, unloaded the SUV, and relaxed the rest of the evening. |
