Trip Report: 7/2/01: HAPPY CAMP TO BARE LOON LAKE (8.5 miles) - We got a late start at 10:30am this morning and were the last to leave camp, but the hiking was great – especially between Deep Lake and Lindeman City. The rain stopped right as we took down our tents, but started again on the trail to Deep Lake. We were surprised that there wasn’t a hut at the lake, which blew because the rain continued during our lunch break. So we took it beneath two evergreen trees.

By the time we hit Lindeman City, however, the weather had cleared to mostly sunny skies and it was hot enough to sport shorts and a t-shirt. The Scooby Doo crew arrived earlier and was camping at Lindeman City tonight. They had practically taken over the northern campsite, but were nice enough and seemed to be having a good time. Watched two guys in the group throw rocks at one of the girls while we ate snack food for lunch.

Made it to Bare Loon Lake by 4:15pm. Most of the people from the previous nights were here and we all cooked together near the bear poles. After dinner, found a nice spot in front of our tents right on the lake. Had a stogie and watched the loons on the lake. This was the best campsite yet, and a perfect way to end the trip. Watched as the clouds rolled in by 9pm and eventually brought rain as we crashed in our tents.
