Trip Report: I have made this trip several times, but always by the Eyebrow Trail route. I thought I'd break my girl (a non-hiker) in fairly gently, so we walked the boardwalk and took it easy. The trail runs right up the canyon bed, and is an easy walk. There are several places to stop for picnicking or to soak your toes in the creek. Lots of lizards and other small critters in the area, including a profusion of butterflies. Remnants of the Oliver Lee irrigation system remain, as well as bits and pieces of the dams that Frenchy erected to store water for his cattle and fruit trees. We walked to the top of the boardwalk, and shot some photos, before heading back to get out of the sun. We stopped at a small pool with lots of shade and just took inthe area. There are lots of small markers identifying the numerous plants in the canyon, and their uses to the early settlers. There were Japanese Koi fish in the creek for a number of years, but they were non-native, and the Park Service has apparently cleaned them out. Regardless, this is a nice small hike, which doesn't require breaking your back. The Visitor's Center has a fairly nice display of items found in the area, and this is worth checking out. We finally headed for the car and rolled on back to town around 3:00.
