Trip Report: Metro and Obie sent me a text asking what I wanted from Subway, and then rolled into the driveway a short time later. It was Thursday afternoon, and I had been scrambling all morning to gather and pack my gear, and make a few last minute preparations after a crazy few days at work. I’d been so busy in the morning, I hadn’t bothered to shower or eat. The smell of Italian subs was delightful, and made me realize how hungry I was. Nonetheless, I decided to take a quick shower so we could get on the road. I would eat my Subway in the truck.

When I came back down and asked for my sandwich, Metro looked at Obie like a dog that just got busted for eating a steak off the counter. I asked what was up, and they confessed they got my order too late, and rather than saving me even a quarter of either of their foot-longs, they elected to eat the whole things themselves, at my kitchen table no less. I packed up a few beers for the road, and grabbed an apple for my lunch. The trip to the Super 8 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania was relatively uneventful, and we pulled in around 7:00. Jer-Bear was driving in separately from the Youngstown area since he had an earlier out of town meeting, and ended up joining us around 8:00 after getting stuck in some traffic.

We passed around a few shots of American Honey, affectionately know as Honey Velvet, and then headed out to Scott’s by Dam for some of their “famous” tacos. The place was a little hole in the wall, but the tacos weren’t half bad. After filling our bellies with tacos and tipping back a few beers, we settled up and headed back to the Super 8 for some final packing, and drinking.
