Trip Report: | The Camel came by the house at 10:30am this morning and we loaded the kids up in two seperate SUV's and drove about 15 minutes to Anne Springs Close Greenway near Fort Mill, SC. There was one other family walking the trails, but the park was pretty quiet for the most part. The Camel lead us down to Steele Creek where we crossed a suspension bridge then walked along a gravel road to Billy Graham's Grandfather's house which sat in a field not far from the Dairy Barn. Horses and goats were fenced in a field across the road, and both the kids really enjoyed seeing (and petting) them. It has rained a fair amount in the last few days, and the trail was muddy and wet as we walked to Lake Haigler to hike along the northern section of the lake. There are eight backcountry campsites here, and all of them have excellent views of the water. It took us just over an hour to circle back to the Nature Center where we parked our vehicles, and this was a great hike on a breezy and cool afternoon. |
