Hike Summary: | This is a moderate hike along a mostly slickrock trail. The elevation gain from the parking lot to Delicate Arch is approximately 480 feet and there is some exposure to heights for a short traverse along a relatively wide rock ledge. Along the trail near the parking lot there is a small cabin that was once inhabited by a father and son around the late 1800s and early 1900s. A short distance further from the parking lot are some petroglyphs dating back to around the 1700s. The petroglyphs are supposedly typical of Ute rock art. The Ute Indians moved to the area around 1300 and that is where Utah gets its name. |
