Hike Summary: | Starting on Jones Gap trail, walk for about 100 yards and turn onto the Rim of the Gap trail. Continue for about .4 mile until you reach the trail head for the Pinnacle Pass. The trail then climbs over rocky terrain and steeply up Little Pinnacle mountain. At roughly 1.7 miles, you'll reach an overlook looking 2,000 feet down into the Jones Gap Valley. The trail the follows the ridges, passing intersections with two trails making a loop optional back to Jones Gap, and crosses over a granite face. There is a cataract bog located in this area as well. The trail the descends down and then back up to Hwy. 276. After crossing Hwy. 276 the trail will end at the junction with the Naturaland Trust. Walk .9 mile on the Naturaland Trust to where it ends on Hwy. 276. You also have the option of crossing the road here and walking another .5 mile on the Frank Coggins to Caesars Head SP. |
