Hike Summary: | Started out the hike by hiking up the fire tower to get an overview of the surrounding terrain. The day was warm and there were quite a few bugs out. The hike uses the east section trails of the park. I took the Summit Loop Trail to the Dam Site Loop Trail to the creek. There are a bit of remains throughout the forest of what was a mill from a while back. The creek is large enough for those who like to canoe or explore the park by water. The best way to access the water is at the north off of 561 and shuttle return from the south off of SR 1002. The park has a large picknick grove in the west section of the park at the main entrance. There are over 10 miles of trails located within the park, most are quite easy with the Summit Loop Trail being moderate with a slight elevation gain. A good way to spend an afternoon. |
