Hike Summary: Great hike for seeing wildlife. This hike is on a military reservation so be on your best behavior. The canal system has all kinds of fish, river otters, turtles, hogs, deer, and of course, Mr No Shoulders (snakes) and allgators.
We saw 5 alligators about 2-4 ft in length in Jan 07 so you can imagine what they'll be like in the warmer months. Slides are abundant.

Great hike for a family, but I'd keep the kids away from the water and any brush.

This is one of those hikes in which you may not want to put up with what it's going to take to get on the base and complete the hike. If you aren't up to it, I'd highly recommend Savannah Wildlife Refuge or Wassaw Island National Wildlife Refure (must have a boat to get to Wassaw NWR). Also, I won't be bringing my little one out to this area anymore unless we are in my truck as it's not worth the risk.
