| Hike Summary: | I did this hike April 11, 2008. The trail head was at approx. 6,700 feet and the temp was about 45 degrees F. There was still a LOT of snow on the north facing slopes. I think about 1/3 of the trail was snow covered. This meant for very difficult trail navigation and slippery footing even with boots and poles. The views from the Twin Peaks (W 7,596ft E 7,761ft) were absolutely worth the hike. There is a camping site on the Twin Peaks saddle, but there is no water supply (unless you bring a water purifier for the stream nearby). I liked this hike, but not the trudging through the snow, next time I'll try it in late May or June. |
