Biography: I fell in love with hiking and backpacking back when I was a girl scout. Now as a scout leader, I continue to explore new areas with the Venture Crew that I am a leader for. Mostly I hike locally, but love the opportunity to hike in National Parks too. The summer of 2015 I will be taking a 60+ backpack trip in Philmont Scout Ranch, New Mexico.
My Best Hike: Scouts Lookout, Zion National Park
Best Hike Description: On the way to Angeles Landing in Zion National Park is Scouts lookout. It is past Walter's Wiggles. I attempted to make it up Angels Landing, but the narrow path with the 1500 foot drop on each side was enough to make me chicken out. I have a fear of falling, and that edge was just too close. But the trail on the way up was moderate and a beautiful hike. A lot of people on this trail for early spring, it is a popular spot. There is a porta potty at the top of Scouts lookout, but nothing in between and no private place to go if you are a woman.
My Worst Hike: No such thing
Worst Hike Description: Any day in nature is a good day
A Memorable Trail Moment: Finding two dessert tortoises on the Boy Scout Trail in Joshua Tree. They are a rare site, so to see two in one day was amazing.
Dumbest Trail Move: None yet
Trails That I Want To Hike: Any place in Yosemite. I have yet to get there.
