My Best Hike: | In Missouri - The Bell Mountain Wilderness - USFS |
Best Hike Description: | A secluded area on the northern end of Bell Mountain with about 20 miles of hiking trails, including a loop, and a great bushwack from Bell Mountain to Lindsey Mountain crossing over Shut-in Creek. Beautiful rocky glades along the top of the mountain and down the southern trail to Hwy A are a must see. There are three trailheads into the area. Shut-in creek is a must see if you go out there. During the warmer weather you may also catch site of the collared lizard sunning in the rocky glades. |
A Memorable Trail Moment: | My first trip to Supai in AZ in April 2000 and catching my first glimpse of Havasu Falls. |
Dumbest Trail Move: | My 2nd backpacking trip to the bottom of the Grand Canyon in 2001- running around getting the kids packed and ready to hike then leaving 1/2 of my food in the car. Good thing the kids brought plenty on their own so they could share with me! |
