Name: Grey
Level / Points:

I am a: Hiker/Backpacker - I enjoy both hiking and backpacking and have no preference
I go hiking: Three or four times per year
I usually go on hikes that are: Moderate to Difficult
Gender: Male
Birthplace: Norfolk, VA
Country: United States
State: Georgia
City: Alpharetta
Biography: I grew up in Mississippi after my dad retired from the Navy and settled down where he'd been born and raised. We had plenty of land and farmed vegetables and livestock. I was a Boy Scout and backpacked frequently with the troop. Otherwise I spent as much time in the woods and fields as possible.

I'm a recent transplant to Georgia, but have not found the time to avail myself of all the readily available trails ... until now.
My Best Hike: Ouachita Trail (Arkansas)
Best Hike Description: In the fall when the forest is vibrant with colors and rich aromas. A beautiful hike through beautiful countryside.
My Worst Hike: Sipsey Wilderness Area (Alabama) Trail 210
Worst Hike Description: Southern pine beetles and high winds (possibly tornadoes) turned acres and acres of forested hills into a vast wasteland of gargantuan matchsticks. We ran into this when it was too late to turn back. It went on far longer than we anticipated. It was brutal crawling over, under and between the fallen trees with 4 days of provisions strapped to our backs.
A Memorable Trail Moment: Hiking from the trail shelter to the top of Mt. LeConte (Smokey Mountains, near Gatlinburg, TN) to watch the sun rise. Majestic.
Dumbest Trail Move: An iPod ... why?
