Biography: Mother of four ranging in age from 17 to 4.
Hubby & I began hiking two years ago to lose weight & get in shape.
Our youngest son was just 3 when we began our adventures & has grown so strong in these past two years. We hiked the strenuous Dismal trail at Caesar’s Head two weeks ago & made it in 4 1/2 hours. I was so proud of him. I wonder how many five year olds could have done that.
Our youngest girl does most of her "hiking" on Daddy's back but has started bucking us on getting into her pack. We've started letting her hike a little & thus far, she can make a two mile moderate hike. Not bad for a four year old, 34 pound girl, huh?
Our goal is to graduate to backpacking trips as the two youngest mature & get stronger.
My Best Hike: Stone Mountain Dupont State Forest
Best Hike Description: Being a bit scared of heights, I was most proud of standing on the rock dome at the top of this small mountain. What a view! We've had so many wonderful hikes but I think, for me, this one has been the most memorable.
My Worst Hike: Hmmmmm.....
Worst Hike Description: I'll have to think about that one. Haven't been on a really bad hike. We have chosen trails at the wrong time of year when the brush is just a bit much. There was also the time we were caught by a thunderstorm hiking back down from the Ishi trail at Jones Gap. Those summer storms sure pop up out of nowhere. Don't they?
A Memorable Trail Moment: Too many...
Dumbest Trail Move: Ok, don't laugh! Oh, I know you will but I'll write it any way. Ya gotta keep those toenails clipped short or OWWWEEE!!!! Lol
Trails That I Want To Hike: Anything in the Pacific Northwest. We honeymooned at Mt. Rainier in '99. We only had five days & wanted to do so much. We were able to hike a short piece past the Paradise Inn resort at Rainier. We also hiked the Grove of the Patriarchs & even made a hike in the Hoh Rain Forest. Guess what? It rained! lol We would love to return someday. Hopefully before Rainier erupts.
