Hike Summary: | This short hike to the Turtle Hollow backcountry campsite starts at the Fox Den Cove parking area and follows the Pine Mountain Trail for 1.4 miles to the Turtle Hollow campsite. Here there is a wooden sign for the access trail to the site. Follow the white blazed access trail down and west 780’ to another wooden sign. To the right of this sign is the Turtle Hollow campsite which can accommodate a large group of backpackers (12-15 tents or around 30+ backpackers) with one established fire ring. Water for this group size camp is a small spring stream that runs by the camp under the nearby bridge. Turtle Bluff Is located across the wooden bridge and just up the hill from Turtle Hollow. It is booked as a separate campsite for a maximum of four people and 2 tents. The hike to Turtle Hollow makes two moderate climbs, passes an interesting rock formation, and is a good option for a quick day hike or short overnight backpacking trip. |
