Hike Summary: The trail is 3 miles if you only hike around the rim of the canyon. We first went down to all the canyons, then hiked the rim. There are actually 9 canyons, but due to cutbacks, only 8 are available. The 9th canyon has too uch over-growth.

It was fascinating being down in the canyon when we are more accustomed to being up in the mountains. It was quite different but the change was wonderful. To be able to see the different layers of the earth and relaize it is actulaly sand, but from a distance--around the rim--it looks like rock. The floor of the canyon is wet, but not particualtly muddy.

We went in the summer. I would think, and have been told that Fall is actually a better time. It is not as hot and not as many bugs. Although with the bug spray on ourselves, we were not bothered.

Coming around the tim through the open parkl area, we stopped at picnic tables and ate our lunch and talked about the beauty of the canyons.
