Hike Summary: | I have been coming here since I was a kid. So keep that in mind, this is a great family trip/hike! It is only a mile loop but on that mile you see ponderosa pines, penstemon flowers, and Indian paintbrush have flourished in the rocky terrain and of course.... LAVA CASTS! These casts are over 7,000 years old so on this hike you get beauty, history and just a fun great day. I think I even went here on a field trip when I was younger. Oh and yes, this is also a paved trail to hike so wear nice shoes because sometime paved trails can be alot of impact even if it is a short hike. Enjoy this part of Oregon. It is one of the things that makes Central Oregon what it is. |
