Hike Summary: | First this hike is only moderate because the elevation gain is 360 ft. Easy, but there were people on the paved trail that looked a bit winded. Rated a 4 only for length. For a quick hour long hike, it is one of the better ones I've been on. A great hour or so hike and a bit longer if you want to go to the creek's headwaters where the ink pots are. The creek itself could be used for water, but given the large amount of traffic on the trail you would definitely want to treat it. As you can see from the pictures, it is a very photogenic limestone canyon and the trail is paved and they have actually anchored the walkway from the canyon wall in places. Great day hike, especially if you combine it with one of the many others in the Banff area. We did it on our way from Alaska to Louisiana, so time was limited and we were not able to go all the way to the ink pots. |
