Hike Summary: | While the rest of the family was biking the Virginia Creeper Trail, I hiked backed to our camp at Beartree after dropping the car off for them in Damascus. I took the AT. At 2.5 miles there is a sign for the Iron Mountain Trail but I went a bit further on the AT and took the Beech Grove Spur up to Iron Mountain Trail. The IMT is pretty much a ridge top trail but descends down to a couple of gaps along the way. There are a couple of nice shelters along the way. The Lum Trail intersects the IMT and ends right at Beartree Campground |
