Hike Summary: The Chacala Trail is a multi use loop trail. It passes a variety of mostly dry mixed upland habitat. I hiked this trail on a fine hot day in September. The trail is mostly shaded. It is well maintained and easy to follow. I saw a couple of whitetail and a couple of gopher tortoise. There is a short spur trail that takes you out to Chacala Pond. A picture of this pond is on this post. There is a group camp site along this trail with a pitcher pump. Water requires treatment before drinking.
Nice hike - mostly very quiet and peaceful, only a little road noise near trailhead.
