I need some advise on a 3 day- 2 night backpacking trip in the Shining Rock wilderness.
I have never been to this area and would love some input from people that have been there.
We want to hike around 8-10 miles on Fri, 8-10 miles on Sat,
    and 6-8 miles on Sun.

What trails and camping locations do you suggest?

    Thanks,

    M

Here’s a nice hike for you in Shining Rock:

This hike starts at USFS 816 and follows the Art Loeb Trail over Black Balsalm Knob and Tennent Mountain where there are outstanding views in all directions.

My advice – go during the week. This place is a mob scene on weekends.

I’ve always wanted to hike to Cold Mountain in Shining Rock. Anyone camp on the summit?
