How To Select A Backpack (For Those That Are In The Market)

I’m in the market.
My current backpack is an Osprey Silhouette, I believe it was made around 1996. It is a great 5400 cu. in. pack that can take a real beating. The only knock I have is that, empty, it weighs 9 lbs. and I’m not getting any younger.
Lately, I’ve been looking at the Gregory Baltoro 70. It is only 4400 cu. in., but weighs less that 6 lbs.
Anyone have experience with this one or have another recommendation?

I’m in the market too. Looking for a 3-5 lb, weekend pack. Any suggestions are welcome. Would prefer that it has a decent hip belt and set of shoulder straps and has some outside pockets for easy access to the critical stuff (ie. TP). I’m tired of lugging around a 7 lb pack – although it has been durable as hell. Just need to lighten the load.
