A buddy and I want to check out the start of the Appalachian Trail at Springer Mountain and hike/camp in the area. Can someone recommend a route and a place to camp? We have three days and two nights (over a long weekend.) Is there a decent water source around Springer?

There’s about a seven mile trail from the top of amicalola falls to springer mountain, if you hike back via the trail that goes to the hike-inn it forms a loop, the hike from the hike-inn to the park is particularly pretty in my opinion. There are spots where you can pitch a tent all along the approach trail, the last time I was there there were also some well built fire pits, including one on top of the mountain(Frosty Mtn.?) on the approach trail, that seemed like it would be a cool place to camp, there’s also the Black Gap Shelter along the approach trail about a mile from springer mountain
