Trip Report: | Saturday (11/3/12) – Met the Tiger den for a short hike and scavenger hunt at 9:30am, and planned to hike the Boardwalk Trail but the Chattahoochee Nature Center doesn’t open until 10:00am and access to the trail is limited to their operating hours. So we ended up hiking to a pond on the property and let the kids collect nature items on their list. At 10am, a naturalist met our group and took the entire pack (including the Wolf, Bear, and Webelow Scouts) on a hike to the river via the Boardwalk Trail. There was a lesson on native American lifestyles during the 45 minute hike, then the kids made a native hackey sack out of paper and learned about (and held) a live snake. Things wrapped up by 11:30am – albeit without a tour of the raptor center – so we stopped for an early lunch at Subway on the way home. |
